What causes the healing effect of thermal water? The interaction of physical properties such as water pressure, buoyancy, water density and thermal conditions is responsible: The bather's body does not have to compensate for the temperature. The chemical composition of our Tamina spring water also promotes well-being. It is the purest spring water from a depth of 1000 meters, heated by natural geothermal energy, purified and enriched with valuable minerals. The result is a soft, neutral-tasting and bacteria-free mineral water of the highest quality.
In terms of its composition, the local Bad Ragaz healing water belongs to the main group of chloride-hydrogen carbonate-sulphate waters. In addition to these main components, it also contains trace elements such as iron, fluoride and iodide ions, as well as sulphide sulphur.

Quality
AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL
The spring water from the Tamina Gorge is a gift of nature: wonderfully pure and worth protecting. We are aware of this responsibility and therefore carefully monitor our water quality. The high quality of the healing thermal water is the Tamina Therme's hallmark of cleanliness and hygiene.
Our treatment plant is one of the most modern in the world. All pools are completely circulated once an hour, which means that the spring water at Therme Ragaz undergoes a complete purification process. We supply our spa with around 200 liters of fresh water per bathing guest per day - the legal requirement for spas is only 30 liters. All pools are completely drained, cleaned, degreased, disinfected and refilled with fresh thermal water directly from the spring once a month. In addition, the quality of our thermal water is subject to constant, automatic monitoring by measuring devices. The water quality is also checked manually on an ongoing basis. Manual samples are taken twice a day by the spa staff.

Origin
of the unique thermal water
Deep in the mystical Tamina Gorge beats its heart: the inexhaustible spring from which the healing, body-warming thermal water has been bubbling for centuries. Europe's most water-rich thermal spring rises in the Tamina Gorge near Bad Ragaz and was discovered in the early Middle Ages (in 1242). The Tamina spring is not only the namesake of the thermal spa, but also the source of the healing spring water.
The origin of the Pfäfers thermal water remains a mystery. Scientists assume that it seeps away in the Tödi region (canton of Glarus) or in the Sardona area, penetrates around 1000 m deep into the earth, is heated in the process and comes back to the surface in the Tamina Gorge after 10 ½ years through cross-cuts in the rock. The outlet temperature is constant: 36.5° C. The rise in temperature of the seeping groundwater (average temperature of 10° C) is due to geothermal energy.
