Pirts Rituals
Pirts translates as sauna and is traditionally used in Latvia to cleanse the body, mind and soul. At the center of every Pirts ritual are you and the gentle massaging and touching of the body with bundles of twigs. These touches and the waving of the branches in combination with traditional Latvian music is a sweating experience, aromatherapy, touch and meditation all in one. The exclusive use of thermal water turns your Pirts ritual into a unique wellness experience for all the senses.

A Pirts ritual involves all four elements of nature, which interact with much greater intensity than under normal conditions due to the increased temperature and humidity.
Fire - the heat of the stove
Water - the use of thermal water
Earth - the Pirts branches
Air - the inhalation of the essential oils from the branches & the Pirts oil

Nature has a similar effect on the body as a vitamin.
Birch, oak, lime and maple branches are used in the Pirts ritual for a special effect on health and the spirit. The birch, the tree of life and new beginnings, cleanses the skin and brings joy to life. Oak, the king of the forest, gives warmth and relaxes. The feminine lime tree, the tree of love, makes you forget all your worries with its enchanting scent. The mysterious maple, the master of the steam dance, brings happiness into our lives.

The sign of Gody represents the masculine energy of a Pirts sauna.
It stands for light, striving for perfection, development, guidance, protection, supervision and blessing. A guardian of wisdom, justice, joy and beauty.
Māra's cross represents feminine energy and should not be missing in any Pirts sauna. It is considered one of the symbols of the mythological deity Māra, the ruler and patroness of the material world. The Mara cross was used to protect material wealth and is a powerful and dynamic symbol. It is associated with the house, fire and fertility.
